Hula Hooping is taking off

Hula Hooping is taking off all over the world – thanks to the efforts of AMERICA’S First Lady, Michelle Obama. She’s the best hooper I know, says the President. And she showed off on the White House Lawn, hooping for 147 swirls at a single go, as she launched a healthy kids fair to beat childhood obesity.

So just how hard is hula hooping? And what good does it do?

TIP 1. It burns a LOT of calories – its great cardio exercise – and is good for “core” muscles, giving you great deportment and posture!

TIP 2. It’s cheap. Hula hoops don’t cost much (£23 for a good one, though there are cheaper ) and most gyms are now bringing them out of their cupboards – including Virgin Gyms and Curves, and there are even specially weighted hoops and hoops for men – see hoopguy.com!

TIP 3. It’s all about forwards/backwards movements – not sideways!
