Whilst I agree with most of the above, it cannot be ASSUMED that a vegetarian diet will keep the pounds at bay. I have been vegetarian for 16 years, and have gradually put ON weight. To use such a diet to maintain / reduce weight requires a reduction in the intake of refined carbohydrate, and keeping a watchful eye on quantities of high fat foods such as cheese and crisps.
