Government online ad spending soars on health

Government spending on digital media advertising leapt by nearly 60% year on year in the 12 months to the end of March. 18-07-2008
Figures published today by the Central Office of Information, which coordinates government advertising and marketing, revealed that in the 12-month period digital media spend rocketed by 57.6% to £35.4m. The COI is the second-biggest spender on all forms of advertising in the UK, according to Nielsen Media Research figures, trailing only Procter & Gamble. Next year's figures are likely to be boosted by campaigns including the first £25m element of its anti-obesity push; and the £10m binge-drinking campaign that kicked off earlier this summer.
