This is my story
I spent my childhood at a normal size but always loved food, especially sweets and cakes (lots of homemade ones that Mum used to make) but lived abroad a lot and swam every day so was always slim. Developed thyroid problems at 21 when my thyroid gland was destroyed by antibodies then started to put weight on seriously. Lost it with thyroid medication and was 10.5 stone when I was married, went on to have 2 children and ended up at 15.5, lost it twice then put it back on then went through the change and went to 18.2. Tried every diet, every pill, under the sun and in desperation went in for gastric banding in Jan 2006. Its been hard, not the easy option I thought it would be. Not losing quickly, despite being sick a lot and restricted in certain foods and the amount I can eat. Sadly the head hunger never goes away and chocolate always goes down easily. Thought I would be 30lb lighter by now but since January have lost 18lb and now 16.10 but it is so slow and I just can't get my head round a diet. I came to this site by searching for Anne to see how she was doing with her band as I had heard it hadn't worked well for her either and am delighted to see that she has now turned the corner, so hope for me yet!
