This is my story
I am 37 years old, I am married with 6 children (3 birth children, I adopted and 2 fostered)
My weight has always been an issue for me, even when I was a size 8 -10, I never felt happy always anxious about my weight etc. I have struggled with my eating habits (over eating for comfort) for years, and gradually the weight has crept up, despite exercising and on off dieting. I'm the fittest fat person I know!! I have at times lost the weight, but have been unable to maintain it. Finally a 2 weeks ago, I visited a surgeon to discuss a gastric band, despite my BMI being 32, he has agreed to operate in two weeks, I sincerely hope it is the beginning of the new me. (the new one, being someone who doesn't make excuses to go out with friends or to parties etc, or isn't feeling totally fed up)
The only person who knows I'm having the band fitted is my husband, I have chosen not to share this information with anyone else, partly I think because I'm ashamed, but also if it doesn't work......
