This is my story
I am 42 years old. I am a Nurse, working usually, 4 nights a week! I have two children, aged 12 and 9 years old. I was always slim and had no trouble staying that way, until I fell pregnant with my daughter. I lost all the weight following the birth as I was so shocked to look at my previously slim self in the mirror!
Then I started working nights at the local hospital, fell pregnant with my son, put on 3 stone and have not managed to lose it since!
It is so annoying to have family telling me to eat low fat foods, exercise, when they have no understanding of how difficult it is, working these nights, feeling tired and trying to lose weihgt. You would think by their attitude, that I was a lazy bum, sitting at home all day, but the truth is if anyone should be slim it should be me!!!
I am busy, I eat loads of fruit and veg. But, at 5 in the morning, or when I'm exhausted, I reach for the chocolate.
I have since done some research, on sleep deprivation and weight gain. Apparantly, your body produces a hormone, it makes you feel hungry, but all you really need is sleep. Anyway, I really need to lose 3 stone by March next year, as my brother is getting married. No way do I want to go to the wedding looking like this! So hope that 'fathappens' can be of help, I really need some support, encouragement, in this battle against the fat!!! And that's my story! |
