This is my story
I have always been a larger girl but over the last few years have become obese (i hate that word!) I have tried diets etc and at the moment am finding im stuck in a rut not losing any weight. I have been researching the gastric band for a few months now and have been in touch with the hospital group, just need to phone them back and book an appointment. My body mass index is really high and i think i might have to get my weight down before a surgeon will operate on me. Has anyone out there got any views on this?
I can't believe how much I have changed since I last logged in. I have lost a total of 5 stone 9 and a half pounds since I last logged on Fat happens. It was back in november last year when I first joined Fat happens. Just to think I was going to go through with a gastric band operation. I lost my first 3 stone by just working hard and eating very little (by accident really) not a very responsible way to start. In June of this year I decided that I needed a healthy approach to my weight loss, so I joined slimming world and with their support up to date I have lost 2 stone 9 and a half pounds. My group are amazing and they keep me on the straight and narrow every week. I would urge anyone thinking of surgery to please try the support of a slimming group first. I dont want to seem patronising but its worth a try before taking such a huge step as surgery, I thought that I had no options left but surgery and who would have thought that I'd be here a year later nearly 6 stones lighter! Attending every week gives me the confidence and drive to go further with my weight loss. Remember everyone is is the same boat. I was ashamed to write my actual weight in my blog when I first came online to Fat happens, now I couldnt care less who knows how much I weigh 19 Stone 6 pounds and losing. May not sound too impressive to who ever is reading this but that figure makes me proud and I got through it with support and incouragement from family, friends and slimming world (my lifeline)
