This is my story
hi, i'm sally, i am a 37 year old mother of two girls aged 11 & 6. i have been overwight for more years than i would like to remember, my problems started as a teenager as i suddenly grew quite a large bust, this led to a lot of teasing and bullying which led to years of dieting and bulimia. Two years ago i admitted to having the bulimia and successfully completed a treatment program of cognitive behavoural therapy. I have also attended every slimming club invented , taken all the pills that are available from my gp and still find myself overwight (or morbidly obese if we are going to use the technical term). to make matters worse last july i gave up smoking, which led to another 11kgs wight gain ,not very good when your only 5ft 1in tall. So after a lot of deliberation and reseach i decided that a gastric band was going to be my way forward. So after persuading my husband (who in the beginning was not keen) on the 11th january i travelled down to southampton with my friend sue and had my gastric band fitted. Its now two weeks on and ive lost 18lbs, i cannot tell you how happy i am , knowing that this weight is not going back on, and i am embarking on a new chapter of my life. Iam looking forward to doing things with my family that up until now i have not been able to, such as swimming, bike riding and long countrywalks (short ones were ok), we are also looking into getting a family membership at our local gym.
