This is my story
i got married in 1983 and the weight just started to pile on going out for meals take -aways anything that was quick after a hard and long day at work
after trying to get pregnant for over one year i went on a fertility drug then got pregnant in 1986 finally but sad to say i miscarried.
i was told to wait 3 months and then double my dose of tablets and by July 1986 i was pregnant again all went well apart from getting diabetes by week 12.
i was then on insulin injections till i had my son at 37 weeks by cesarean section then by august the same year i was pregnant again had another son the following year 1988.
my diabetes went away completely but over the next 3 years slowly came back and my weight increased with it.
over the last 20 years i like many others have tried diet's gym name it i have tried it a lot of people say your OK you just need to lose a bit round your middle as my face,arms,legs,are quite thin.but they arnt the ones buying a size 24 or 26 to fit the middle area.
i still have diabetes type 2 my blood pressure is high and have trouble walking and getting around in general and hate being fat.
i went to see my doctor in march 2006 and was sent to the weight clinic at our local hospital who said they would see me in 6-8 weeks and said i would have to show them i was prepared to help myself as well as them putting me on the list for a gastric band opp.
so i tried really hard and lost 16lb in 8 weeks and couldn't believe my ears when i went back to see her she said well you don't need the opp now you bmi has dropped and you can loose weight through dieting.
after myself and my husband told her where to go and how hard it had been to cut out all garbs she said she would refer me to see the surgeon who would make a decision.
i went to see him in January 2007 and he agreed to do a gastric band I'm so pleased i had my date today may 4th funny I'm having an opp and worried to death but i cant wait.
