This is my story
I am 48 years old and have yoyo dieted all of my adult life .. In July 2004 I decided I could cope no more and looked into weight loss surgery. I saw a wonderful man called Mr Somers at King EdwardVI hospital in Sussex. He advised me to have an RNY gastric bypass. At the point of my surgery on October 14th 2004 my weight was 23st 5lbs. I had a very near miss immeadiately following the operation, and have had ongoing problems since with sickness and plateaus .. In May 06, I went back into hospital and had some adehsions removed and my bowel unkinked and it seems to have done the trick.
My weight today is 14st 6lbs. I am now at my lowest since I was 21 years of age. Obviously I have a way to go but my health is so much improved now that I feel like a new women.
Pre op I was diabetic, had extremely high blood pressure and also hgh cholesteral. I was on 14 tablets a day .. From day 3 post op I have been clear of all of these and now the only medication I take is Zoton, which is a tummy comferter.
My only regret ... is that I did not have surgery 20 years ago ..
That is a snippet of who I am ..

Update... I have recently moved from Sussex to the East Mids, and over the last few months have managed to regain about 12lbs in total. I have to seriously get back on track now, and am seriously considering joining a group such as WW.
WLS does work, but it is by no means the easy option, and can be very hard work!
