This is my story
I have been on diets all my life - the classic yo-yo dieter. I never had any lasting success until I discovered the Atkins Diet, and I have now been a committed low carber for many years. I set up a website at www.lowcarbiseasy.com to provide information and support to other people who could benefit from understanding how to do low carb and why it helps people lose weight who don't manage to lose successfully on the conventional low calorie/low fat diet. I invented lots of recipes to create interesting foods and keep me on my low carb diet, which I later compiled into an interactive cookbook available on my website so that others could benefit too.

However, in 2004 I started gaining weight again and began to do a lot of internet research into the reasons why. I eventually found it was mostly due to my underactive thyroid, got different treatment, and started to lose weight again. But I had learned so much more about the science of dieting - why for instance it's possible to fail to lose weight through not eating *enough*, and how important it is to lose fat rather than lean body mass, that I wrote a book called 'Why Can't I Lose Weight'. So much of what I discovered is just not generally known, yet it's crucial for people to understand if they are to lose weight long term and not just do one failed diet after another all their life. I wrote it because I wanted to give other people who struggle with their weight like me the chance to find out too. This led to a new website at www.gooddietgoodhealth.com which aims to provide unbiased up to date information on dieting, nutrition and good health and to correct some of the myths and out of date beliefs out there which I believe are preventing the nation from beating the epidemics of obesity and diabetes.
