This is my story
Hi,

I'm Paula, I'm 54 years old and have a lot of weight to lose, how i got to be this big i don't know, when I married i was 9stone 7lbs, had 2 lads and then I suffered with a trapped nerve in my back, I lost a lot of weight and got down to 9stone, I could even wear size 10 jeans.

I had treatment on my back and as i got better I started eating again and slowly the weight crept on, I can remember being 12 stone I must have been 25 or so, but as the years went by I just gain a stone a year, I would lose some but it would always go back on.

I can remember being 17 stone for what seems years and i thought if I did not go above it I was o.k but in the past 6 years I have and at the end of last year i was my heaviest 20 stone 4lbs, I decided with happenes of last year [my hubby had cancer] and it was a real stressful time that I need to look after myself and get fit, he is o.k now and i suppose you tend to let yourself go once he is all clear so it was back to eating again.

in January of this year i decided i had had enough of being this size, I never wanted to go anywhere, I hated the winter and hated the Summer, so I knew I needed to do something, I went back work after Xmas with all good intensions but I had a real bad cold, I did in fact lose 7lbs cos I just did not want to eat, by the end of Jan I had put it back on and I decided that i would join WW for the hundredth time.

I said this time would be different, I would stick to the plan. I had been WW before but I never seemed to lose any weight, so my first weighin was 20stones 4lbs and I stuck to the diet, my first weighin I had stayed the same, I was very disappointed; I had been so good, but I was told, "Stick with it" and i did another good week, I weighed in and had stayed the same. I was gutted. Again i was told to stick with it, and I had my third week eating good and when I went for my weighin I had lost, yes lost weight 1lb!!!!!!

That was 1lb in 3 weeks; that was it. I went home and had my wine and a takeout, the following week I gave it a lot of thought and decided to do this on my own - which i did - I got a calorie book and went on about 1600 cals a day. I would save up my points for my takeout and my wine on a Saturday night but apart from that i was good. When I went away on holiday on 12th May I weighed in at 18 stone 10lbs and I was so pleased with myself, it was slow going but I got there, I went away and eat and drank what I wanted and I started back work 31st May I weighed in at 19stone 4lbs, which I did not think was to bad, so it was back on the diet again but this week I have failed miserably.

I just cannot get back on track and when i saw the e-mail to join this group i was over the moon, so i'm hoping that joining will give me the encouragement to get back on track, have read some of the letters and I think they are great, hope to be joining with with everyone else now.

Paula
