This is my story
Hello my name is Amanda I am 41 years old and live in Clapham with my husband of 15 years and our son. I have been fat nearly all my life managing to lose 10 stone twice, once in my early 20s by starving myself, then again in my mid 30s using xenical, keeping it off only long enough for it to go back on again.
My life is great and I am happy apart from the constant cloud I carry around which is my weight. I will admit I wasn't any happier a size 12, I just had more clothes and more male attention. I lived with the constant fear I would put it all back on and I did.
I made the decision to apply for the gastric by-pass after thinking and researching for a long time, I kept thinking that it was the cowards way out. I had sucessfully given up smoking 20 a day for 20 years without any help and couldn't understand why losing weight was so hard for me to do being that nicotine is a very powerful drug.
I have had my first interveiw with my consultant and he decided I was an excelent candidate(that upset me a bit). I have now got my first of 3 appointments coming up in June and until then I will wake up everyday with the same positive attitude as I always do, then I get to work and its cake, cake ,cake!!!
It would would be great to exchange stories and advice with anyone, local or nationally. Regards, Amanda.
