This is my story
On March 15 I weighed 100kilos. I’m 171cm tall which gave me a BMI of approaching 37. Three years ago I weighed 65 kilos. I have 3 wardrobes – fat thin and medium because my weight yo yos constantly and has done virtually since puberty. (I have photos showing just hoe much my weight has altered over the years – both up AND down)
I have tried everything. I’m a gold member of weightwatchers (dating from 1977 when I lost 6 stone), this went back on, came off again in 1989 and has gone back on again now. I’ve been to weight clinics, I’ve been to private slimming clinics, been prescribed Xenical and Duromine (Phentermine). Xenical perhaps helped slightly. I couldn’t cope with the side effects of Phentermine and in any case it’s banned here in the UK.
I’ve had hypnotherapy.
I’ve had all the fibre, stomach filling, appetite suppressors there are on the market. I’ve tried the atkins, the grapefruit, the special K, the slim fast, the whatever diet. I’ve puked up eaten food, I’ve tried laxatives.
I’m now 51 and my weight was affecting my health. I’ve recently suffered from back problems which I’m sure is mainly connected to my weight. I’ve also had operations for arthritis and also for heartburn.
My mother has had 2 heart attacks and suffers from osteoporosis. Her two sisters (my aunts) both died from heart attacks, so it runs in the family. One aunt also suffered 2 strokes..
On March 15 I had a lapband fitted by Dr Anfrois, in Paris and since then I’ve lost 15kilos – despite going away on a 12 day cruise with all the food you can eat!
