This is my story
I am a 51 years old woman who has struggled for years yo-yo dieting losing at most 10 stone and putting it all - and more - back on. People in general appear to look at overweight people with disgust and generally treat us as second class citizens. I in desperation took a weight loss pill which made my heart go wrong and I am now completely pacemaker dependent and classed as disabled. I am considering Gastric Band Surgery but cannot afford to pay the UK prices. How can I find out which Belgium Hospital carried out Annes surgery so I don't waste my savings choosing the wrong Doctor. I no longer work as employers are not interested in someone like me with my appalling sick record - so as you can tell - I hope - I have reached desperation stage in my battle of the bulge.
Update - 26.07.2007
Have spoken to my GP who agreed to refer me for gastric banding. I have not heard anything yet so am hopeful to get an appointment. I am so desperate - my life cannot go on the way it is - I seem to feel unwell all the time. I have just read the blog from the REMEwife and this encourages me as far as the NHS waiting times. I will let you all know when I get my appointment and what the outcome is.
