This is my story
I live with my son who is 17 and my husband, (long suffering), he married a perfect 12 and ended up with a large 18 - 20. Over the last 5 years I have given up smoking and gained 5 stones in weight, it just sort of crept up on me. Every time I went to put something on it was getting tighter and tighter, then I would say to myself it must have shunk in the washing and go out and buy a bigger size. The bigger I got the more depressed I got and ate more to compensate for the fact I was not able to controll myself.
My husband tried to help by encouraging me to join weight watchers, I lost a few stone's and gained 3 after 9 months. Nothing seemed to work for me, I was getting in a rut. Then on Christmas we took a photo, of me with all my friends and their husbands, I was so shocked to see that I was the biggest and fattest there, I realised I had to do something.
It took me 2 years to research gastric banding (in the mean time I put on another stone). Then by chance through the PAS. I got to hear about Shaw Somers. I looked him up on the internet and made an appointment to see him. Because my GP said that I did not come under the clinically obece cat. I would have to pay for the op. myself. My husband was more than happy to do it for me.
On the 30th of August I went into Chichester Hospital and had the op. done and at the same time had my gall bladder out as that was bothering me for the last 10 years. I know that the day I went in I was 99kg. I dont know how much that is in stones but I think its around 16stones. I have not weighed myself since then, but I do know I cannot eat half as much as I did before and my friends have all comented on how well I look and my face lookes slimmer.
I will be going in for my first fill in 7 weeks time, its usually in 6 weeks but because of my gall bladder its 8 weeks.
I have yoyoed all my life I have always lost weight and put it back on with a vengence, I just got so tired of going up and down the scales, I know surgery is drastic and should never be taken lightly, but when you get to end of you tether and have not other option I would recomend it to anyone.
Just had my first fill and just had my weight taken I am now 94kg. The fill was quite traumatic as the port has turned round a bit and Mr. Somers could not get this huge neeld in, god, dont want to go through that again it took 4 attemps, he now knows where it is and will do it first next time round which is next month. Mind you lifting your legs of the table is quite hard as well.....
Have not been on the sight for a while, as I have been quite busy with Xmas coming up. When in for my second fill on Friday 23rd Nov. I got weighed and lost 3 kg. I know it does not sound like a lot but I am very happy as I am now under 15 stone and feel very proud of what I have achived so far. I can now get into a 16 and it does not feel too tight. Yes he got the needle in streight away, so that was a relief for me.
