This is my story
I have been married for 27 years.

Have one son aged 23 with Aspergers Syndrome.

I get vey stressed dealing with my son, so turned to food for comfort.

Have been on every diet there is, lost weight but put it all back on plus more.

I am having a lap band fitted on 12th June, and hope it is the answer to my problems.

Well I did it, I had the operation on the 12th June at Dolan Park, with Mr. Siggurdson.

All going well up to now, had a phone call two days after the op, had my x-ray yesterday (26th June) which showed my stomach was still inflamed (hopefully this will settle down)

No complaints with WGA

I have actually changed my mind regarding WGA. They should never be aloud to do this operation with no after care, as |I have found out to my cost with my health.

I had a hysterecotmy in July, which all went very well, until August when I was called back to the hospital to be told I had cancer. I went to the MRI in Manchester & had a 2ml defil. I had my radiotherapy and coped reasonably well, for months and then all of a sudden it tightened up very tighly to the point I could not eat "normal" food and was struggling drinking. So I went to A &E on Monday night, saw a dr. who did not have a clue what to do, so was admitted, saw another dr. 5 hours later, & he did not know what to do. Tues morn I had to leave to go for appointment at my cancer hospital did that then went back to hospital again, then wed saw another dr. who also could not help but he did send me for a xray and barium x ray. Was told I had reflux and needed a defil, which is what I had been saying from day one. So on Frd a dr. turned up to do the defil there and then on my bed, he attempted 8 or 9 times by this time I was feeling very feint, he had to give up. By this time the pains in my chest had spread to my back and I was feeling much worse. I had to go home and wait for a referral to Salford Royal. I eventually saw the wonderful Mr. Ammorri who did a defil for me in2 mins, taking out 4mls. The pains by now were very bad, I could not sleep. Eventually they did disappear
but I was left with a terrible stitch like pain in my stomach. I went to see my gp who pressed his fingers into my stomach & I nearlly fell off the bed, he said the stomach lining was badly inflamed.

I feel this all happened because I had no after care. This is why I think WGA should not be allowed to operate then wash their hands of us.

Before all this happened I was coping fairly well, I have been attending a course run by our PCT called change your life run by a very good dietition, who explained how much protein we need, cereal & bread and carbohydrates to eat. I think from reading on here I seem to be able to eat quite a lot of food, compared to others, but |I was happy with that. I have lost weight slowly, just over six stone now.

I only have I think 2 or 3mls left in it now, so will have to be very careful. I will start to have more fills when my chemotherapy finishes hopefully in March.

This is certainly a long eventful journey.
