This is my story
My weakness is food: curries, cake, pasta, biscuits, apple pie and lashings of HOT custard...
I worked as a Ward Manager in Oncology for 12 years where there were always tins of biscuits and chocolates from the families of the patients who were looked after on the ward. Originally I left nursing to start a family (our children are 16 & 14) and didn't return but pursued a new career as a Psychologist, which means sitting for long periods of the day listening to people who are stressed, depressed, suicidal, issues around relationships...
Weight has never been a concern until a few years ago when I couldn't find anything 'trendy' to wear in the shops in the size I required. I was in a size 18 - how the heck did that happen?!
After speaking to someone at work I promised myself I would join Slimming World. The success was great: I lost one and a half stones but more importantly I has lost 2 dress sizes. I began a walking routine in the evenings; at first on my own and then my husband a few times and more recently a girlfriend. I started with half a mile round trip and gradually built it up to three miles.
Slimming World is a whole new way of 'healthy eating'. Although I keep with the plan the classes clash with work as I have changed some hours at work, and am looking for another class which I can attend and recieve the empowerment from others which keeps me on track. I want to be eat healthly without feeling I'm missing out.
Thanks for reading this and lets keep this Buddying Scheme alive and kicking!!
