This is my story
I was a fat child who starved myself as a young teen in order to be thin. After marrying at the age of 18 and starting my own family I became an obese adult. I spent 15 years at double my current body weight. I was a fat, closet bulimic. On the exterior I was a diligent Mom and wife, on the inside I was screaming for someone to help me gain control of myself.

I began to lose the weight after two significant moments. I was washing my hair in the shower and was too fatigued to hold my arms up any more. I was under 30 years old. And a visit w/ a High School chum. She hadn't seen me in such a long time and told me I had become a by-product of my husband. It was the right words, at the right time, to make me look closer at myself. I just began to do it at that point. Lots and lots of movement. Lots and lots of focus outside of the kitchen. No more pacing around the kitchen wondering what to do next. I began to give myself permission to sit down and do nothing. I started to pay attention to ME.

After losing the fat, I pursued a career in fitness training in order tol help others that were like me. I'm very good at what I do, but the truth of the matter is, FAT people don't always have the financial means for a fitness trainer. I sure didn't. I'm still searching for my niche that will allow me to truly make a difference and allow me to make a small living at the same time.

I still struggle w/ food and focus issues every day. I still have a portait of myself, in my mind, that doesn't equal what the mirror relects, or what others see. I stop at mirrors in areas that I don't frequent to 'look'. I still don't immediately recognize myself. The numbers on the scale still have the ability to dictate my mood.
