This is my story
I was a skinny teenager/young woman and then in late twenties became slim - I remained slim until about 10 years ago (age 46) when I came back to the UK after spending 30 years in South Africa - huge culture shock and i was obviously comfort eating. Then I put on a bit of weight (went from a size 12 to 14-16) but it was really when I stopped smoking in 2005 that the weight really piled on. I tried WW, Slimming World, Atkins etc but kept putting the weight back on! So in on 16 June of this year, after receiving a personal injury payout, I had a gastric band fitted privately. So far, I have had 5 fills and have lost 51 pounds.
