This is my story
I'm 34 happily married with a lovely 6 year old little boy. Been over weight since a young teanager. Lost and put on excess weight many times never quite getting it all off. Have tried everything over the last 20 years and alway end up back at 20 stone. So finally decided enough was enough and it was the right time to have a gastric band. I was refered by my GP but didn't meet the criteria without going through another pointless obesity programme which could take years as I have no medical problems. So I though do I carry on waiting to develop high blood pressure and diabetes or work a few extra shifts and go private. I decided to go with the latter and I'm booked in for surgery on the 1st of feb 2011. From making that life changing decition to my surgery it will be 3 weeks I still feel feel quite bitter that the NHS wont fund me as my blood pressure is on the high side of normal I have had depression and I'm heading for diabetes but life too short and I want to be healthy and happy.
