This is my story
For some reason this says that I have lost weight - NOT TRUE. I am very fat and have been
fat for a long time, currently at the very beginning of trying for a gastric band on the NHS. 1St appointment with a consultant is on 30th December 2009.
Like many others I have spent years (in fact decades) trying to lose weight with just about every diet going - only to put any weight loss back on (and more besides).
I am married (almost 26 years). I have three grown up children (two girlsaged 25 and 28, who live in S. Yorkshire), a son aged 20 (who lives in Cornwall with us) and a 7 year old grandson (whom we have custody of).
I have been fighting for a referral for a gastric band for over two years. We moved house unexpectedly in July this year and after visiting my new GP I suddenly found myself letting rip at her about my former GP refusing to refer me as (in his words) - I wasn't fat enough, my BMI was too low and I don't have any illness caused by my size. All ridiculous of course - I am very large - my BMI at that time was in fact 65 and I was in agony with my joints from walking (due to my size). The new GP was brilliant - hence my referral. Fingers crossed that the initial appt. (30-12-09) goes well and I'll keep this updated.
