This is my story
I am 47 yrs old and a coffee shop manager, i have 2 grown up children and 2 adorable grandsons.I have had a weight problem all my life weighing 12st at 11 yr old, i got called "THE TANK" at school. After several diets that were succesful i still always mannaged to put mw weight back on and more besides so in oct 09 i decided to have a consultation for the band i then took some time to research it . I decided to wait till after xmas then got the band rolling, I had my band fitted through BMI healthcare and went to the Highfield hospital in Rochdale my surgeon was Mr Aktahr. All went well and i was out of hospital the day after and went back to work 1 wk later all was well until fri 26th mch when i bent down into fridge and felt this tearing snappy pain in top of stomach not any better by sat eve rang the hospital who told me my consultant was on holiday nothing they could do for me and said to take myself to my local a&e, i paid £7000 for this op and a years after care. I didnt want to go but i was in agony and my hubby talked me into going, they gave me pain relief told me it wasnt life threatening as my obbs were ok and sent me home to conntact my private carer. I plodded on in pain till mon morn then rang my dietician who got me an appt with a collegue of my surgeon. He admitted me into hospital put me on iv antibiotics and pain relief and would get me a slot for a ct scan, 2 days later no pain when laid in hospital bed only when moving around and no sign of ct scan i was allowed home to rest and have scan as out patient, i was rang that affternoon to go for scan that was on april 1st still not got results and when i ring ward i get no help they cant even tell me who to ring. So rang my dietician again she just said wait till easterweekend is over. Is it me or should we expect a better service when you pay so much money.
TUESDAY 6TH APRIL.
At last got appt. with Mr Akhtar for the results of my ct scan. Had pain round port area for nearly two weeks now, it is bad enough to stop me moving around so i hope they can do something to make me more comfortable, not even left house for 6 days. On the positive side i have lost 20llb since starting pre opp diet, i am coping really well with diet and am on sloppy foods now. I think i am ready for a fill once sorted out as not much restriction now and feeling hungry!! I dont know what to expect at my first fill as i have read some people say it doesnt hurt at all while others find it really painfull, but hey hum i suppose ill soon find out.
